1. Information We Collect

We collect information you provide directly (name, email, username), information collected automatically (page views tracked via hashed IP addresses — raw IPs are never stored), and usage data through Google Analytics.

2. How We Use Your Information

We use collected information to provide and improve our services, send transactional emails (OTP, notifications), process wallet withdrawals via Razorpay, award DevCoins for reading activity, and display personalized content.

3. Cookies & Tracking

We use three categories of cookies:

  • Strictly necessary — authentication (JWT tokens) and CSRF protection. Always on; the site cannot function without them.
  • Functional — an anon_id cookie that lets us award DevCoins to readers who haven't signed up yet, so the rewards can be claimed when they create an account. Used only with your consent.
  • Analytics & advertising — Google Analytics for traffic analysis and Google AdSense for advertisements. Used only with your consent. You can opt out of personalized ads through Google's ad settings.

You can choose “Necessary only” in the consent banner. If you do, we will not set the anon_id cookie, which means any DevCoins you would have earned while logged out cannot be credited to you later.

4. DevCoins Reading Activity

When you read a blog post for the qualifying time, our server records the award against your account (or against your anonymous anon_id cookie if you are not signed in). The record stores the blog ID, the timestamp, and the number of DevCoins issued — never the content you read or any browsing history beyond that single event.

Anonymous DevCoin records are scoped to a single browser. They are not portable across devices, and they are deleted 30 days after they are issued if not claimed by signing in.

5. Data Security

IP addresses are hashed using SHA-256 before storage — raw IP addresses are never persisted. Passwords are hashed using bcrypt. All data is transmitted over HTTPS.

6. Your Rights (GDPR / DPDP)

7. Third-Party Services

We use Google AdSense (advertising), Google Analytics (analytics), Amazon SES (transactional email), and Razorpay (payments). Each has their own privacy policies.
